Limits

During Activity

-It was difficult to carry al the sandbags up the levee - Not many people were aware about the stapling technique of sand bags and therefore and instruction video is made - There was little grip on the EPDM material and therefore it needed some anchoring - Originally a row of sandbags on the side was planed against water flowing underneath. However due to the limited grip it was decided not to place them.

Post-activity conditions

The measure holds well in time. Eventually the embankment couldn't be tested and therefore it is demolished. During the demolition it looks like it affected the grass quality. However grass pulling tests show still enough strength in the grass after 3 months underneath the EPDM. The material however made good shelter for animals and you could see many animal burrows underneath.

Labor intensive method

Results /Conclusion

Placing an embankment to convert the overflowing water could be an option during an emergency situation. However because we didn't test it we don't know how it will hold under overflow conditions.
