Limits

During Activity

After the placing of the emergency measures the measures stayed there for a couple of months. To evaluate how the subsoil behaved and the emergency measure hold in time a group of students from the levee challenge helped. - Grass pulling tests were executed by infram to identify the strength of the grass. The results of the grass pulling test are on the sharepoint. - Friction tests were executed on the grass/ EPDM and The friction tests were difficult as the sand bags were so deteriorated. No clear friction coefficient was found as the underground was so different and full of bumbs. - Pull force of the incision method is tested The incision method was still really strong. It was impossible to pull out the EPDM foil underneath the grass cover with two persons with more than 100kg puling force. - Conditions of the sand bags The sand bags were in really bad condition. After 6 weeks the material is degrading and the sand is flushing out. The anchors don't help the tearing process as these bags deteriorate first.
