Detaled information about the activity

Pre-conditions

Activity Descriptor

after the overflow tests of WP1 caused unexpected severe erosion on the innerslope on a few locations (alias Patrick's Cliff , Tree Revenge and Davy's damage), WP2 was asked to come with emergency measures to repair these erosion pits as soon as possible. we challenegd the partners to come with there ideas. Some were best practices, but most had an element of innovation. The result was a final selction o 3 types and within 1 type two variants. These has been executed in the field

Limits

During Activity

organising a webinar with experts from the different partners presenting there proposed method created a lot creativity and lead quite fast to the best method for the given situation.

Post-activity conditions

the correct field data and terrain conditions have to be given upfront to the participants. Else they come with good solutions but for the wrong situation

Immediate Results

Results /Conclusion

the proposed measures has been executed in the field and were effective until end existence of this levee.

Infrastructure Knowledge

The different ways to anchor the geotextils, The solution "foil with sandbags" had a double benefit: 1 it raised the levee a bit at the damaged loctaion preventing water overtopping attcking the already damaged location and extra anchoring of the geotextile depending on the terrain conditions (excessible or not, raod construction available or not, steep or shallow slope, etc) the one solution will perform better then another
by challenging each other and discussing the solution structured by criteria updront
after the challenge the solutions has been executed in the field and tested
